Influence of Inlays/Onlays and Their Material on Stress Distribution in Mandibular Molars: Finite Element Analysis

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the influence of inlays/onlays and their material on stress distribution in mandibular molars with large cavities, using finite element analysis (FEA). Methods: 3D models first molar were created. Then, a mesio-occluso-distal cavity was created, cusps reduced (1.5 mm for buccal 1 lingual cusps). The restorations were: inlay, onlay that covered (B models), all (LB models). Inlays onlays represented by two materials: nanofill composite resin polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (PICN). Vertical load 600 N applied von Mises stresses calculated. Results: Inlay showed higher concentration tooth structures than models. Composite inlays transmitted most adjacent structures. On other hand, PICN absorbed less dental restorations. Moreover, concentrations (B-buccal LB-all cusps) similar, while LB B onlay. Conclusions: Onlays better inlays. might be suitable choice as restorative inlay/onlay cavities molars, is unfavorable such terms redistribution

The Effect of Post Material on Stress Distribution in Mandibular Second Premolar Tooth by Finite Element Analysis

Introduction: The restoration material commonly used as core material for pulpless posterior teeth is mostly amalgam due to its high strength and low cost and it can be used with or without pin. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of post material on stress distribution in mandibular second premolar tooth by finite element analysis. Method: The stress distribution was analyzed i...

Effect of Abutment Height Difference on Stress Distribution in Mandibular Overdentures: A Three-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis

Background and Aim: Implant-supported overdentures are a treatment option for edentulous patients. One of the important factors in determining the prognosis of overdenture treatment is to control the distribution of stress in the implant-bone and attachment complex. This study assessed the effect of implant abutment height difference on stress distribution in mandibular overdentures. Materials...

Influence of Number of Implants and Attachment Type on Stress Distribution in Mandibular Implant-Retained Overdentures: Finite Element Analysis

AIM This study aimed to compare the stresses generated by using two or four root form dental implants supporting mandibular overdentures that were retained with ball and locator attachments. METHODS Under ANSYS environment, four 3D finite element models were prepared. These models simulated complete overdentures supported by two or four implants with either ball or locator attachments as a co...

Effect of Abutment Angulation and Material on Stress and Strain Distributions in Premaxillary Bone: A Three-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis

Background and Aim: Dental implants with angled abutments are often inserted in the anterior maxillary region due to the status of the residual ridge and aesthetic considerations. The purpose of this study was to assess stress and strain distributions in the premaxillary bone around dental implants by means of finite element analysis (FEA). Materials and Methods: Four three-dimensional (3D) fi...
